Terms of Service

1. Description of the Service

DiffQuery provides browser-based tools to compare documents, PDFs, Word files, text, code, images, screenshots, and similar content. Most comparisons run inside your browser. The Service is provided free of charge and does not require an account.

2. Eligibility

You may use the Service only if you can form a legally binding contract under applicable law and your use does not violate any law or regulation. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Upload, compare, or otherwise process content that you do not have the right to review, including content that infringes intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of third parties.
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise extract the source code of the Service, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits.
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service, servers, or networks connected to the Service, including by sending automated requests at a volume that could degrade performance for other users.
• Use the Service to build a competing product, or to scrape, mirror, or redistribute the Service's content without permission.
• Use the Service to process malware, illegal content, or content that violates applicable law.

4. Your content

You retain all rights to the files, text, code, and images you submit to the Service for comparison ("Your Content"). We do not claim any ownership over Your Content. Because comparisons are designed to run inside your browser, Your Content is generally not stored on our servers. You are solely responsible for Your Content and for ensuring that you have the legal right to use the Service to review it.

5. Intellectual property

The Service, including its source code, design, text, graphics, and logos, is owned by DiffQuery and its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any right, title, or interest in the Service, other than the limited right to use the Service in accordance with these Terms.

6. Third-party services and advertising

The Service may display third-party advertisements, including advertisements served by Google AdSense, and may use third-party analytics. Your interactions with any third-party services are governed by the terms and privacy policies of those third parties. See the Privacy Policy for the current list of third parties we use.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including without limitation any warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that comparison results will be complete, accurate, uninterrupted, or error-free. You are responsible for independently verifying results before relying on them for legal, financial, medical, regulatory, or other consequential decisions.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, DiffQuery and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Service. Our aggregate liability for any direct damages arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service will not exceed one hundred US dollars (USD 100).

9. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless DiffQuery and its operators from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of or in any way connected with your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms.

10. Modifications to the Service and Terms

We may change, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time, in whole or in part, without notice. We may also update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or applicable law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including the disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification) will survive.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with generally applicable principles of international commercial law, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service will be resolved on an individual basis; you agree not to participate in any class action or class-wide arbitration against DiffQuery.
